Components of computer are input devices,  system unit,  output devices, communication devices and storage devices.

1. Input devices

The data instructions given to the computer is the input. Input device refers to a hardware element that is used to input data and commands into a computer. 

Use input devices are keyboard mouse microphones cannot digital camera and PC camera.


Keyboard

Keyboard is used to enter text. It has keys for entering several types of data, including alphabetic and numeric ones.


Mouse

The mouse serves as a pointing device, manipulating the pointer on the screen. Users issue instructions to the computer via the mouse. It has buttons to complete particular tasks like opening a program.


Microphone

Using microphone, we can enter voice in computer.


Scanner

A scanner is a device that scans printed text and graphics, converting the information into digital format.


Digital camera

We can capture and store picture in digital form through digital camera.


Webcam

Webcam is a PC video camera. It is used to capture videos and photos on the computer. It is also used to make video phone calls on internet.



2. Output device

Output device refer to hardware element that is used to show information to the user.

 Monitors, printers, and speakers are the most frequently used output devices. Output refers to the data that has been transformed into valuable information.


Monitor 

We used Monitor for displaying text, graphics and video output. 

Printer 

Using Printer, we can display printed output on paper. 

Speaker 

We can hear sound, music and voice outputs using speaker.



 3. System Unit

 A system unit is a casing that contains the various electronic parts of a computer that are used for data processing. The motherboard is connected to the electronic parts of the system unit. Other names for a motherboard include system board and main board. Motherboard is the  medium of communication for computer system.

 

4. Storage devices

Storage devices are hardware components utilized for permanently storing data, instructions, and information. They are also referred to as non-volatile since their contents remain intact (secure) when the computer is powered off. Some examples of devices are USB flash drive, hard disks and optical disc etc.

 

5. Communication devices

 Communication devices are hardware components responsible for facilitating communication and data exchange with other computers. Modem is an example of communication device. The use of a modem allows a computer to connect to other computers through cable or a phone line.
