Education in Pakistan Essay

Education is the preparation of the body and the mind for life. It kindles the lamp that guides an individual along the difficult and dark road of life. It equips him with the means of physical existence, Spiritual development, independence approach and the art of Living. No doubt education is the key of success both for an individual and a nation.

But our prevailing educational situation is quite dismal and discouraging. Our passive and static educational system is making the students dumb driven cattle rather than enlightened citizens, book -worms rather than creative thinkers, machines rather than ideal men. Sadly, our literacy rate is rising but our effective mental Improvement is declining. Our students hold degrees which are pompous in name but poor in worth. There is only quantitative note qualitative growth in education sector on the other hand, the most ignored sector is the primary and adult education. As the rate of drop-outs at primary level due to certain reasons is very high, the literacy rate is very low in the country.

There are many factors responsible for low literacy rate and deteriorated education system. First, our education system still follows the colonial pattern producing nothing but baboos and hence it does not cater to the needs of rapidly changing world. Secondly, education has never been the top priority of our successive governments. Sufficient funds have never been allocated to education sector. Thirdly, all education policies have been nothing but High boast ,little roast, besides, political interference absence of merit, large unchecked drop-outs ,only theoretical education, outdated and defective examination system, untrained and poorly- paid teachers and general corruption in the country are responsible for our poor standard of Education.

Our education system need total overhaul and Revolutionary changes. In this regard, education and literacy must be the top priority of our every Government and sufficient found should be allocated for education. Than, our education should be full fill the demands of present times and so the education of science, computer, information technology, Space science, etc, should be paid due to attention. Beside political interference, absence of merit, experimentation and other such Evils should be avoided. Moreover, unless we restore and improve the status and prestige of teacher, education system cannot work efficiently.

Primary education and quality education should be our top priority and the number of drop-outs should be checked forthwith. Our present government seems well-awake to bell this cat. The provision of free books and free education up to Matric level, the allocation of sufficient fund, the establishment of new schools and colleges, the revision of curriculum.

Top priority to education are the steps in the right direction. The dream of hundred percent literacy and educated Pakistan can be realized if sincerity, selflessness, devotion, spirit, priority and honest efforts are there. No doubt, education is the real key to success and can solve many of our problems.
